Abstract:

This study was performed as a identifying to determine the behavior of genital hygiene of patients applying to the gynecological clinic of a hospital in the center of Denizli province. The universe of the study was formed by 156 patients who applied to the gynecology clinic with a complaint of genital infection between 1 and 31 December 2005, 108 patients (69.2%) who wanted to participate in the study without going to the sample selection were taken. The data is obtained through the socio-demographic data form and the "Genital Hygiene Behavior Inventory". The data was evaluated by percentage, Kruskal Wallisvaryans analysisii and t test. 50% of patients in the study are aged 22-28 years, 66.7% are primary graduates and 46.3% live in private homes. 21 per cent of patients. During the menstruation, 3 of them have a period of 10 hours and more, and 13% do not take a vaginal shower. A statistically significant difference has been found between the patient’s educational status, the living type, the working status and the frequency of ped change in menstruation and the behavior of genital hygiene (p < 0.05). Patients who are at high school and higher education level, working, living in the apartment and changing ped for 4-6 hours have better genital hygiene habits.
