Abstract:

The scientific literature of Roman women in Turkey is very limited. Moreover, the voices of Roman women are rarely heard in this literature. Most of the Roman women appear to us as an object rather than being the subject of these works. Feminist methodology stands in the opposite of this position and in the studies that are carried out, promotes the voice of women. From this point of view, this study focused on the voices of Roman women and their narratives of membership is an attempt to respond to how Roman women position themselves according to the ethnic, religious, national and social gender categories in the socio-political context of Turkey. Furthermore, Roman aims to contribute to current literature by exploring the social perceptions of women and the great sociopolitical stories that more humiliate and deteriorate them, how they accept, negotiate and resist them. The study found that Roman women gave important clues in the socio-political context of Turkey while defining themselves and their ethnic origins. In addition, it is possible to say that Roman women experience social exclusion and discrimination while exercising their daily lives, that they are essentially in ethnic background, poverty, gender scarcity, and that they use a variety of practices and tactics to separate from this scarcity.
