Abstract:

Teaching books are undoubtedly one of the most important teaching tools in the educational-learning environments. The objective of this study is to reveal the ways in which the concept of art and the subjects containing art are included in the 4-5-6 and 7th classes of social knowledge curricula prepared by taking into account the social knowledge curriculum. The method of document examination is used in the research methods. The study was conducted through the 4-5-6 and 7th-class Social Information curriculum books taught in public schools by MEB in the 2019-2020 educational year. The study found that the concept of "art" as a concept was most repeated at the 7th grade level. The topics of art are most related to Ebru art, Carpet art, Chinese art. The art-content subjects discussed have been seen to be clear, simple and at a level in accordance with the levels of the students in terms of language and narrative. Social information lessons (4-5-6-7) are considered generally, but the books have not given much place to the art-containing subjects, and the art-containing subjects are described in a superficial way. Some recommendations have been made to grow more sensitive, conscious and talented young generations in the future.
