Abstract:

As the importance of ÖZ Turkey in the international scope increased, the number of foreign students arriving in our country with the aim of receiving academic education has also increased. This study aims to develop the academic writing skills of foreign students coming to our country. The research is done by action research method. The universe of research is foreign students who learn Turkish as a foreign language, who have completed the C1 level and will start any higher education program in our country. The examples of the study are made up of 16 students who take an academic Turkish course at the Istanbul University Language Center in the 2020-2021 academic year. The researchers have created materials aimed at the development of students’ academic skills and these materials have been applied to students during the academic Turkish course. The data related to the application is collected through observation, research journal, video and audio recordings, writing skills checklist. Qualitative data obtained is interpreted by content analysis, while quantitative data is interpreted by spss programs. Numerical expressions and tables are often used to facilitate the interpretation of data. In light of the collected data, it has been observed that the materials created contribute to the development of students’ academic writing skills. It is also believed that the materials created in this study will help users working in the field because they will provide an example of the content that will be prepared for academic Turkish courses.
