Abstract:

In this article, the concept of consumption in the process from modernity to today is depicted by periodic readings on the basis of the artistic perspective of globalization in the new world order and the policies in the neo-liberal influence. In the newly created capitalist consumption model, it has been seen that through the cognitive and digital extensions, a communication media-based structure has sought to form consumption as a means of capitalist exploitation. In this study, the relationship between the effects of the consumption concept and art began with modernism and the link between post-art movements and pop art formation, and after the 70s, the indirect reflections of consumption to ecological problems were studied. In the study, Chris Jordan, Andreas Gursky and Mary Ellen Carroll attempted to express how and for what the artists expressed the consumption concept directly or indirectly with the materials they use, the effects of electronic and digital consumption in the artwork practices through the current materials were a symbol of order in the new consumption model in today's popular culture, and while they were done, the effects of electronic consumption covered today's impact area and ecology were reflected in the formal expressions of digital output through the current concepts.
