Abstract:

Bu araştırmada öğretmen adaylarının kariyer geleceği algısı ile duygusal zekâ özellikleri ve psikolojik sağlamlık düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu Türkiye’deki bir üniversitenin eğitim fakültesinde 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılında öğrenim gören 644 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan kişisel bilgi formu, Türk kültürüne uyarlaması Doğan (2015) tarafından yapılmış olan Kısa Psikolojik Sağlamlık Ölçeği (KPSÖ), Türk kültürüne uyarlaması Deniz, Işık ve Özer (2013) tarafından yapılmış olan Duygusal Zekâ Özelliği Ölçeği Kısa-Formu (DZÖÖ-KF) ve Türk kültürüne uyarlaması Kalafat (2012) tarafından yapılmış olan Kariyer Geleceği Algısı (KARGEL) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde parametrik olmayan ilişkisel yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının KARGEL toplam puanları ve alt boyutlarından elde edilen puanların bazı demografik özelliklere göre farklılaştığı; kariyer geleceği algısı (KARGEL), kariyer iyimserliği (Kİ), kariyer uyumluluğu (KU) ve piyasaya ilişkin algılanan bilgi (AB) ile duygusal zekâ özelliği arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı; psikolojik sağlamlık düzeyi arasında ise görece daha zayıf anlamlı ve pozitif yönde ilişki saptanmıştır.

Abstract:

This study examined the relationships between the perception of the career future of the teacher candidates and the characteristics of emotional intelligence and the levels of psychological strength. The sample group of the study consists of 644 teachers candidates who studied in the 2015-2016 educational year at the educational faculty of an university in Turkey. The personal information form prepared by the researcher as a data collection tool in this study was used by the Turkish Culture Adaptation by Doğan (2015) Short Psychological Sustainability Scale (KPSÖ), the Turkish Culture Adaptation by Sea, Light and Özer (2013) Emotional Intelligence Specificity Scale Short-Form (DZÖÖ-KF) and the Turkish Culture Adaptation by Kalafat (2012) Career Future Perception (KARGEL). In the analysis of data, non-parametric relative methods have been used. Teachers' candidates' overall score and sub-dimensions differ according to some demographic characteristics; the perception of the future of career (KARGEL), career optimism (KI), career compatibility (KU) and the perception of the market (EU) and the characteristic of emotional intelligence are positive; the relationship between the level of psychological stability is relatively weaker, meaningful and positive.

Abstract:

This study examined the relationships between pre-service teachers’ career future perceptions, emotional intelligence traits, and psychological resilience levels. The study sample in Turkey’s university education faculty in the 2015-2016 academic year studying constitutes 644 teachers. Data collection tools were personal information form, ‘Career Future Inventory’ developed by Rottinghaus et al. (2005). It adapted to Turkish culture by Kalafat (2012), ‘Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire–Short Form’ developed by Petrides and Furnham (2003) and adapted to Turkish culture by Deniz et al. (2013) and ‘The Brief Resilience Scale’ developed by Smith et al. (2008) and adapted to Turkish culture by Doğan (2015). We made data analysis by non-parametric relational methods. We observed that the pre-service teachers’ total scores and scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of KARGEL differ according to some demographic characteristics. We also found a positive and significant relationship between career future perception (KARGEL), career optimism (CI), career adaptability (KU), perceived market knowledge (AB), and emotional intelligence trait. However, a significant positive relationship was found between teacher candidates’ career future perceptions (career optimism, career compatibility, and market knowledge) and psychological resilience. This relationship is positive and relatively weak.
