The Importance of Social Services in Family Medicine Practices Family physicians are faced with all health problems of individuals and families. Not only do the patients who consult to primary care have psychosocial problems related with health but also many of those benefitting from social services are ill. However, many of family physicians lack adequate sophistication and/or time to solve psychosocial problems related with health. It has been shown that close cooperation between family physicians and social workers enables patients’ more participation into care, and social workers increase the opportunities to offer comprehensive and cost-effective care to individuals, couples and families. In this paper, the importance of social services in family medicine practices was discussed.
