Kimlik, doğası gereği anlaşılmaz, soyut, değişkenlik gösterebilen ve anlatılması güç bir kavramdır. Benin sana karşı konumunu ifade eden bu kavram çoğunlukla belirsiz, ayrıştırıcı ve muğlak olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Ancak ulusal kimlik söz konusu olduğunda kimliğin belirsiz, ayrıştırıcı ve muğlak tarafı yok olmakta bizin(Türk milletinin) size(yabancıya) karşı duruşu ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bireysel kimliklerin çok sayılılığı ve ayrıştırıcılığı ulusal kimlik söz konusu olduğunda ortadan kaybolmakta öz/ana/asıl/üst kimlik olan ulusal kimlik kavramı ön plana çıkmaktadır. 18 Ekim 2018 tarihinde Danıştay 8. Dairesi ilköğretim okullarında okutulan Öğrenci Andını kaldıran yönetmeliği iptal ettiğini açıklamıştı. Ulusal kimliğin insanlara anlatılmasında bütün yapılara önemli görevler düşmektedir. Kitle iletişim araçlarınınözellikle televizyonun- ulusal kimliğin insanlara anlatılmasında oldukça etkili olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Bu anlamda çalışma ulusal kimlik kavramının ve alt bileşenlerine ait kavramların (milliyetçilik/etnisite/ulus gibi) kitle iletişim araçlarından doğru şekilde sunulduğunda toplumları ayrıştırmaktan ziyade birleştirecekleri varsayımına dayanmaktadır. Çalışma, kimliğe dair değerlendirmelerde öteki konumuna geçebilen, otoriteyle/iktidarla ilişkileri farklılık gösteren, dünya görüşleri birbirleriyle aynılık göstermeyen 3 farklı televizyon kanalının(ATV, TRT-1 ve FOX TV) Danıştay’ın Öğrenci Andı kararının haber bültenlerinde sunumlarını inceleyerek ortaya çıkmıştır. Çalışmada ana haber bültenleri değerlendirilirken içerik çözümlemesi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Yine çalışmada literatür taraması yapılarak kavramsal bileşenler tanımlanmıştır.
Identity is a concept that is uncomprehensible, abstract, variable and capable of being explained. This concept that expresses your position against you is often regarded as uncertain, distinctive and misleading. But when it comes to national identity, the uncertain, distinctive and distinctive side of the identity disappears, we (the Turkish people) stand against you (the stranger). In this sense, the study is based on the assumption that the concept of national identity and the concepts of its subcomponents (such as nationalism/ethnicity/nationality) are correctly presented through the means of mass communication and they will unite the communities rather than divide them. The study was revealed by examining the presentations in the newsletters of the Student's Decision of the Council of 3 different television channels (ATV, TRT-1 and FOX TV) that can move to another position in identity assessments, showing differences in relations with authority/power, and not showing equal world views with each other. In the study, the main news bulletins were evaluated while using content analysis technique. In the study, literature scan has defined conceptual components.
Identity, by its very nature, is a complicated, abstract, fluid and variable concept. This concept that defines “me” in relation to you is conceived mostly as ambivalent, alienating and confusing. However, when it comes to the national identity, the ambivalent, alienating and confusing features of the identity are obscured and our (Turkish nation’s) standing in relation to you (the foreigners) is emphasized. The fluctuating and othering features of individual identities are ignored within the context of national identity and the concept of self/main/prime/upper identity is foregrounded. All structures have important duties in explaining national identity to people. On the 18th of October 2018, the 8th Chamber of State Council announced that it cancelled the regulation that abolished the recitation of Student Oath in primary schools. It is widely held that mass media - especially television- plays a huge role in raising people’s awareness for national identity. In this sense, the present study argues that when presented in the correct way through mass media, the concepts such as national identity and its sub-components (nationalism/ ethnicity/ nation etc.) will serve the purpose of unifying societies instead of dividing them. This study has emerged through analysing how State Council’s decision on Student Oath is presented by 3 different television channels (ATV, TRT-1, AND FOX TV) that empathize with the other in their view about identity, that have different relations to the authority/ power and that differ from each other with regard to their worldviews. Content analysis technique was used to evaluate the main news bulletins. Again, in the text, conceptual components are defined by making literature review.
