Amaç: Ankilozan spondilit (AS) aksiyel iskeleti etkileyen, sistemik, kronik inflamatuar romatizmal bir hastalıktır. AS'li hastalar 3 gruba ayrıldı. Grup 1 deki hastalar anti- tümör nekrozis faktör alfa (TNF-α) ve non-steroid anti-inflamatuar ilaç (NSAİİ), grup 2 deki hastalar sadece NSAİİ ve grup 3 deki hastalar Sülfasalazin ve NSAİİ kullanmaktaydılar. Plazma OPN, serum İnterlökin (IL) -6 ve serum TNF- α ELİSA yöntemiyle çalışıldı. Bulgular: AS'li hastalarda plazma OPN düzeyleri daha yüksekti (p=0.012).
Purpose: Ankylosan spondylitis (AS) is a systemic, chronic inflammatory rheumatism disease that affects the acoustic skeleton. The aim of this study is to identify plasma osteopontin (OPN) levels in AS and to investigate the relationship with the measurements of disease activity. Tools and Methods: Study modified New York Criteria, 108 patients diagnosed with AS were taken and the control group was selected from 65 healthy adults matched age and gender. Bath AS disease activity index (BASDAI), Bath AS metrology index (BASMI) for spinal mobility, Bath AS functional index (BASFI) for functional condition, and Bath AS radiological index (BASRI) for radiological examination were also used. The patients were divided into three groups. Patients in group 1 were using anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), patients in group 2 were using only NSAIDs and patients in group 3 were using Sulfasalazine and NSAIDs. Plasma OPN, serum Interlökin (IL) -6 and serum TNF-a ELISA methods were studied. In patients with AS, plasma OPN levels were higher (p=0.012). In subgroups created according to medical treatments and disease activity (BASDAI ≤4 and >4) there was no difference between groups in plasma OPN levels. There was no significant correlation between the plasma OPN levels and the parameters used in the assessment of the disease. Result: Our study found that plasma OPN levels in patients with AS were higher than in the control group. This condition is not associated with the activation of the disease and the medical treatment used.
