Çalışmada, Türkiye’deki televizyon kanallarında yoksulların ve yoksulluğun nasıl temsil edildiği, ana haber bültenleri çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, yoksulluğun televizyon haberlerindeki temsil biçimlerini incelemek, söz konusu temsil biçimlerinin egemen söylemlerle bağlantısını ortaya koymaktır. Bu yolla yoksullara/yoksulluğa dair sorunlu temsil biçimlerinin kime/neye hizmet ettiği saptanabilecektir. Çalışmada, büyük sermaye gruplarına ait olan ve “yeni liberal” ideolojiyi temsil eden Kanal D, dini söylemlerin yaygın olarak kullanıldığı “yeni muhafazakâr” ideolojiye sahip Kanal 7, “sol” ideolojiye sahip Hayat TV ve kamu televizyonu TRT 1’in ana haber bültenleri örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Söz konusu televizyon kanallarının 1 Ocak-31 Mart 2014 tarihleri arasında yayımladıkları ana haber bültenleri incelenmiş; kanalların ideolojik yapılanmasının, yoksulları ve yoksulluğu temsil biçimlerine etkileri ölçülmeye çalışılmıştır. Ana haber bültenleri Teun van Dijk’ın eleştirel söylem çözümlemesi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Bulgular farklı yayın çizgilerine rağmen televizyon kanallarının sorunlu-dışlayıcı temsil biçimlerinde genel olarak benzeştiklerini ancak yayın çizgileri doğrultusunda birtakım temsil biçimleri de ürettiklerini ortaya koymaktadır. Haber bültenlerindeki sorunlu temsil biçimlerinin, sorunla ilgili etkin çözüm yöntemlerinin gündeme gelmesini engellediği düşünülmektedir.
The study discussed how the poor and poverty were represented in Turkish television channels, in the framework of the main news newspapers. The aim of this study is to study the forms of representation of poverty in television news, to reveal the connection of those forms of representation with the dominant speech. This way, we will be able to determine the problematic forms of representation of the poor / poverty to whom they serve. In the study, Channel D, which belongs to large capital groups and represents the "new liberal" ideology, has been selected as an example of the main news bulletins of Channel 7 with the "new conservative" ideology where religious speeches are widely used, Life TV and Public TV TRT 1. The main news newspapers published by those television channels between 1 January and 31 March 2014 were examined, and the impact of the channels on the forms of ideological formation, poverty and representation of poverty was measured. The main news newspapers were studied using Teun van Dijk’s critical speech analysis. The findings show that despite different broadcast lines, television channels are generally similar in problematic-excluding forms of representation, but they also produce a number of forms of representation according to the broadcast lines. It is believed that the problematic forms of representation in newspapers prevent effective methods of solving the problem from coming to the agenda.
