Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to analyze offensive elements of Turkish Handball National Team that participated European Championship Qualification in 1993-94 season. Turkish National team competed against Austria, Estonia and Sweden. Games that were played in Turkey were recorded by video tape and were analyzed by using "Vestel Handball Game Observation Program" which is developed by Teos Company. For four national teams, mean goal throw, mean goal and ratio of goal throws to goal were found respectively, 39.3; 19.3; 48.3 per match. There was no statistically significant difference was obtained in ball on goal among Sweden, Austria and Turkey (p>0.05). Between Turkey and Estonia, significant significant differences were found in the goal throws which were blocked by the goal keeper (p<0.05). Also, significant differences were obtained in goal throws which were out in the game between Turkey and Estonia (p<0.05). Altough no significant difference was found observed in number of direct (center) and dive shots in matches between Austria and Turkey, significant differences were fonud in jump shot between these two teams (p<0.05). In conclusion, it can be said that elements that were analyzed showed quantitative variations according to offensive and defensive elements o f opponents. Therefore, developing more effective offensive organization depends on analyzing offense elements.
