Abstract:

The perception of operational sustainability and profitability brings the concepts of competition and performance to the fore among businesses, and the sustainability of the financial soundness of businesses is important since high-cost investments create uncertainty in the future and create risk factors. Although investments in the energy sector are profitable, the high investment cost constitutes the main risk factor for the sector, while companies in the sector need to improve their production activities and strengthen their financial infrastructure in order to eliminate the risk factor and make investments profitable. In order to reduce the effects of risks related to financial performances, the sustainability of the enterprises is ensured by determining the needs that are in development and change with performance measurements. In this study, the financial performances of companies operating in the electricity, gas and steam sectors of Borsa Istanbul (BIST) are weighted with SWARA, which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods, and examined by VIKOR and WASPAS methods to contribute to the determination of the measures that companies should consider in the future. According to the SWARA results obtained, the criterion with the highest weight is determined to be the asset turnover ratio, and according to the WASPAS and VIKOR methods, it is determined that the ENJSA company has the best financial performance ranking.
