Özet:

English language vocabulary development could be achieved through various teaching and learning processes however utilizing Television series as teaching instruments has facilitated this process. This study aims to examine the effect of American television series on developing vocabulary knowledge of Elementary students. Forty students were selected from the 5th grade of KIPS (Knowledge Inn Preparatory School) Johar Town, Lahore for this study. Four sessions were scheduled a week. The respondents were divided into control and experimental groups. A pretest was designed to write an essay of about 100-150 words for both the controlled and experimental groups before the experiment. Later on, the experimental group was facilitated with watching American television series as teaching tools, and on the other hand, the controlled group was given no such input except the course work to teach. A post-test was taken from both the groups at the end to check the difference in results of their vocabulary development. The findings paved the way for the American television series to be considered as a teaching strategy for vocabulary development. In light of the findings of this study, pedagogical and planning policy recommendations are highly favored.
