Abstract:

In every society there are accepted realities about certain topics, circumstances and structures. These realities are produced through speeches and modified or completely destroyed when necessary. The most basic dialect used in the construction of speech is the language that communicates between individuals and allows them to be directed and controlled. However, speaking is not just a field of linguistic elements, but rather a set of non-language indicators. There are different methods of research today to study what purpose and how the speeches are produced. One of these is the method of critical speech resolution, which is a linguistic-based approach. This approach, which focuses on the language of the speech, aims to explain and interpret the polarization of the power, ideology, authoritization with us and them. The research conducted by critical speech analysis method is mainly examined in newspapers. The main reason for the work on speech to concentrate on such texts is that the various means of communication that the media uses are due to the fact that it can reach every section of society and has an important place in the creation of realities with the speech it produces. The aim of this study is to reveal what a statement is made about Istanbul and Turkey in the German media. As the subject of the review, the highest daily newspaper in Germany, Bild, published in the first half of the year 2019 and the news texts on Istanbul were selected. The selected news will be focused on how Turkey is trying to be shown in the relevant German newspaper through Istanbul and Istanbul by using critical speech resolution methods developed by Teun van Djik (2013; 2015) and Norman Fairclough (2003; 2012).
