5E öğretim modeline göre geliştirilen oyunların Almanca hazırlık sınıflarında dil becerilerinin gelişimine etkisi

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, yapılandırmacı yaklaşım 5E öğretim modeline göre geliştirilen oyunların Almanca hazırlık sınıfı öğrencilerinin dil becerileri üzerindeki etkilerini belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırmada kontrol gruplu ön test- son test deneysel araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde, Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Almanca Hazırlık Sınıfı’ndaki 34 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada araştırma yaklaşımı olarak karma araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Uygulama öncesinde öğrencilerin dil becerilerine yönelik seviyelerini ölçmek için öğrenci kazanımlarına uygun başarı testi uygulanmıştır. Deney grubunda yer alan öğrencilerle 8 hafta boyunca ders, araştırmacı tarafından 5E öğretim modeline göre oluşturulan oyunlarla yürütülmüştür. Kontrol grubunda dersler ders kitabına dayalı biçimde işlenmiştir. Uygulama sonrasında başarı testi her iki gruba tekrar uygulanmıştır. Deney grubu öğrencilerinin 5E öğretim modeli ile oluşturulan oyunlara yönelik görüşlerini belirlemek için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadaki nicel veriler, Sosyal Bilimler için İstatistik Programı (SPSS) 11.0 kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada nitel verilerin analizinde ise betimsel analiz yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Öğrenci görüşmelerinden elde edilen verilerin analizi ve yorumlanması, alan yazın taraması sonucunda oluşturulan kodlar bağlamında yapılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre 5E modeli ile oluşturulan oyunların uygulandığı deney grubundaki öğrencilerle geleneksel yöntemin uygulandığı kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin dinleme, konuşma, yazma ve okuma becerilerine yönelik başarı testi ortalamaları arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde fark ortaya çıkmıştır. Ancak öğrenciler en çok konuşma becerisinde ilerleme kaydetmişlerdir. Araştırmada oyunların dil becerilerinin gelişimine sağladığı katkının yanında, öğrencilerin motivasyonlarını da olumlu yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract:

The aim of this research is to determine the effects of games developed according to the structuring approach 5E teaching model on the language skills of the German preparation class students. For this purpose, the research has been used in the control group pre-test-first test experimental research model. The research was conducted in the second semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, with 34 students in the Nine May University German Preparation Class. The study used the karma research method as a research approach. Before application, a success test is applied in accordance with student achievements to measure the levels of students towards their language skills. With students in the experimental group for 8 weeks, the course was conducted with games created by the researcher according to the 5E teaching model. Classes in the control group are processed based on the lesson book. After the application, the success test was reapplicated to both groups. A semi-configured interview form has been used to determine the opinions of the students of the experimental group on the games created with the 5E teaching model. Quantitative data in the study were analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) 11.0. In the study, the analysis of the quality data was used by the visual analysis method. The analysis and interpretation of the data obtained from student interviews is carried out in the context of the codes created as a result of the field summer scan. The research findings showed a statistically meaningful difference between the students in the experimental group in which the games created with the 5E model and the control group in which the traditional method was applied between the students’ success tests for listening, speaking, writing and reading skills. However, students have made the most progress in their speech skills. In addition to the contribution of games to the development of language skills, the study found that they have a positive impact on the motivation of students.

The aim of this research is to determine the effects of games developed according to the constructivist approach 5E teaching model on the language skills of German preparatory students. For this purpose, pre-test and post-test experimental research model with control group was used in the research. The research was carried out with 34 students in Ondokuz Mayıs University German Preparatory Class in the second semester of the 2017-2018 academic years. In the study, a mixed research method was used as a research approach. Before the application, an achievement test suitable for student attainment was applied to measure the level of students' language skills. For 8 weeks with the students in the experimental group, the course was carried out by the researcher with games created according to the 5E teaching model. Courses were taught based on the textbook in the control group. After the application, the achievement test was applied to both groups again. A semi-structured interview form was used to determine the opinions of the experimental group students about the games created with the 5E teaching model. Quantitative data in the study were analyzed using the Statistics Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) 11.0. In the study, descriptive analysis method was used for the analysis of qualitative data. The analysis and interpretation of the data obtained from student interviews was made in the context of the codes created as a result of literature review. According to the findings of the research, there was a statistically significant difference between the achievement test averages intended for listening, speaking, writing and reading skills of the students in the experimental group, where the games created with the 5E model were applied and the control group students, where the traditional method was applied. However, students made the most progress in speaking skills. In the research, in addition to the contribution of games to the development of language skills, it was determined that the students also positively affected their motivation.
