The action taken by the healthcare personnel in order to evaluate the patients who has become emergent in ten minutes according to urgency, is called obstetric triage. Obstetrics is a term that meets information about pregnancy and childbirth, but complications in this period are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. The level of maternal mortality as a multidimensional development indicator is closely related to the quality of reproductive health care. The usage of obstetric triage in Turkey and the applications for developing it are as follows; Today, the triple triage system applied by the Ministry of Health is valid and the death classification is excluded. Pregnants receive the code in red, yellow and green colors according to their urgency, not in the order of arrival. The midwives being experienced in pre-natal and intrapartum care management shows that they are ideal healthcare personnel for obstetric triage. «Emergency Obstetric Care Training» is provided regularly by the Ministry of Health. One leg of the obstetric triage system is the “Near Miss” . Preventable maternal mortality rate in Turkey is 37.9%. In determining the problems that occur in accessing and delivery of health services for pregnant women, the classification is made according to WHO Delay Models. Furthermore, obstetric triage is included in "Emergency and First Aid Training". Midwives are the main factor in all these practices. In line with the criteria of the European Union, "obstetric emergencies and risk identification of pregnant women" are included in the whole education process.
