Bezm, which is defined as the type of entertainment that people do when they get together on various occasions, has a historical and literary background. As it is told in various boks of propriety about the good manners and the historical development of bezm, it is a right and custom of rulers. The phenomenon of bezm, has been used by poets in both Persian and Turkish literature in almost every verse with various layers of meaning, and two literary genres such as saki-nâme and isret-nâme have been born. One of the genres in which bezm is used is mathnawi. It is known that the depictions of bezm are often used, particularly in mathnawis that treat of love, adventures (Sergüzeşt-name), and epics. One of the Tutmacı’s mathnawi of Gül ü Hüsrev is one of the Turkish mathnawis that reflects the concept of bezm in Anatolia. This study looks at, 13 depictions of bezm in Gül ü Hüsrev in the context of the basic elements of bezm. These elemenst categorized by themes consist of poetry recited in bezms with temporal and spatial depictions, occasions and preparations for bezm, depictions of bezm goers, and depictions of wine and music.
