From the second half of the 19th century there was a strong French influence on the Turkish culture. This effect is associated with the knowledge of the French by the brilliants of this geography. The close follow-up of French culture and civilization will be effective in the process of modernization. This interaction, seen in the fields such as medicine, engineering, primarily military, is strongly manifested in the social and cultural field, along with the announcement of Tanzimat. Unfortunately, the role of some political developments, such as the 1856 Crimean War-based alliance, is not denied, in addition to the French. In particular, the great increase of French schools in French language and the visit of Muslim youth to Europe, especially France, will make them more familiar with French culture and literature. It is believed that new species in Western literature are a good way to bring the innovations they see to our people. At the beginning comes the newspaper and the theatre. This process also reveals a new literary language along with new literary species. In the establishment of the new literary language, the theatre style has a very important contribution, especially the Moliére translations. The theatre is based on dialogues, it is based on showing alongside the narrative, it makes it easier to use and understand the language. Moliére's widespread use of the comedy style is the reason why it is preferred because of our traditional theatre. However, the mistake of the comedy and its power to tighten the old is another reason why it is preferred. That’s why the name Moliére is quite important in the construction of the modern theater. There has been a great French effect on Turkish culture since the second half of the 19th century. This effect relates to the fact that intellectuals in this area could speak French. Following closely the French civilization has an influence on the process of revolution. This interaction which was seen especially in the areas of military, medicine, engineering at first, manifested itself strongly in the social and cultural area with the announcement of the rescript of Gülhane. Undoubtedly, apart from the effect of French language, the role of some political developments, such as the alliance composed after the Crimean War in 1956, cannot be denied. Especially, the French schools increasing the demand for French language, visits of Muslim youth, especially to France, provide an opurtunity to know the French culture and civilization closer. They think that new genres in Western literature are good intermediaries in order to gain the innovations seen in France. The primary genres of them are journal and theatre. This process releases new literary genres as well as new literature language. The theatre genre, especially translations of Moliére, have made great contribution to the inveteracy of this new literature language. The fact that theatre is based on dialogues and showing as well as narrating is thought to be a facilitator as regards the use and understanding of the language. That Moliére widely uses the style of comedy is the reason of preference due to our traditional theatre. However, another reason of preference is the power of comedy in criticising the wrong and the old. Therefore, Moliére is of great importance in the creation of contemporary theatre.
