The aim of this study is to examine whether the levels of ethnocentrism in preservice teachers show a significant difference according to gender, grade level and department variable and the relationship between multicultural personality traits and ethnocentrism. The population of the study consists of all students who continue their education in different departments of Amasya University Faculty of Education. The sample of the study consisted of 368 preservice teachers who were studying in five different departments of this faculty and were determined through purposive sampling. Of the participants, 72 (19.6%) were male and 296 (80.4%) were female. The ages of the preservice teachers participating in the study ranged between 18 and 36, with an average age of 21.14 (SD=2.10). The data of the study were collected with Personal Information Form, Generalized Ethnocentrism Scale and Multicultural Personality Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, it was found that male preservice teachers had higher levels of ethnocentrism than female preservice teachers. In addition, the department variable is related to preservice teachers' ethnocentrism levels. Cultural empathy and emotional stability were found to be negatively related to ethnocentrism in preservice teachers. The results of the research can help to determine the variables associated with ethnocentrism in preservice teachers and also to create curricula to reduce ethnocentrism in preservice teachers.
