Objective: Characterize a period of training (pre-season) based on volume and intensity, more specifically in distance traveled and blood biochemistry, describing the type of work and its physiological character. Materials and Methods: A total of 37 training professional athletes all males of 18 years to 37 years. We evaluated 31 days of pre-season training a football team first division of Brazilian football, and in this period were 45 training sessions camps and 7 games (2 friendlies and 5 officers). During the pre-season workouts were divided into two groups: group 1 summoned, and the group 2 no-summoned, this division occurred by the fact that during this period there were games where a limited group of athletes, in the case of the group summonde, went to the game and the group non-summoned The group made the specific work. Conclusion: Therefore, there are evident predominantly aerobic work is the rudder of the pre-season because it is a base period for the entire year. The instruments of evaluation of intensity, volume and muscle stress, proved efficient for the procedures. Both the values of Creatine Kinase and Lactate were within the reference values for the population. More studies that bring us information about the training should be conducted mainly on distance traveled during training
