Abstract:

Sivas province at the easten part of the central Anatolia region of Turkey. It has important place throughout the historical process. Sivas is important juction point for north-south and east –west roads. It is the second largest city in Turkey in terms of area. The first census was made on 28 October 1927 in the republican period. 63 provinces, 328 districts and 39,901 villages were counted under the name of the general population census. The total populatıon was determined as 13.648.270 people. The population of Sivas provience is 329.551 people. The second census of the repuclic of Turkey was held on 20 October 1935. It has been determined that the total population of Turkey is 16.158.018. Sivas has a population of 432.996 people. Some information about the population of Sivas based on the October 20, 1935 census is present in this study. İn this context, the general population of Sivas City center and the population of Sivas province were examined in terms of quality and quantity. It has been tried to give information about the number and situation under the headings of populatıon density, age groups, health status, literacy, marital status, religious beliefs, mother tongue, occupational groups.
