Abstract:

Studies of stomach content analysis provide important insight into fish feeding patterns and quantitative assessment of food habits is an important aspect of fisheries menagement.İn this study, twelve methods of stomach content analysis,which are used to determine the diet of the species,are mentioned.The methods are numerical,volumetric,gravimetric,occurrence frequencies,subjective,geometric importance index,gut-fullness,stomach flushing,use of emetics.However,occurrence frequency method is the most reliable method among these methods.Especially,methods of stomach flushing and use of emetics are novel methods,which are widely used in recent years.
