Abstract:

Political parties can look at the problems of the country from different perspectives and offer alternative policies to solve these problems. Tourism is one of the important sectors that contributes to the economic development of Turkey, especially in terms of currency income and employment creation. The attitudes and statements of each political party established in Turkey towards the tourism sector are important in terms of contributing to the country’s economic development. In this study, the party programmes of a hundred and nine political parties that are legally active in Turkey from 01.01.2022 have been studied and classified by a visual method by means of document analysis. The reviewed political party programs coding and categories processes resulted in the party programs classified at 3 levels. The second level is classified in 4 categories: economic, social, environmental and cultural. In the third level, there were 13 categories of trials. Economic speech categories include regional development, financial policies, health tourism, sustainability, promotion and marketing, tourism development, and policy-oriented areas. The social speech categories include speech on education policies, security, access to services, cooperation and unions, unregistered employment policies. In the category of environmental statements there are statements about environmental policies, and in the category of cultural statements there are statements about ethical policies. The 34-party programme, which has tourism content, is considered to contain 272 different policy proposals for tourism. The study provides a comprehensive perspective on the attitudes of political parties towards the tourism sector. It is also important to contribute to the work of practitioners and researchers in identifying the problems of the industry and producing solutions to the industry.
