Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of foreign students and Turkish students about each other in the classroom environment. In the study, qualitative research method was chosen, phenomenology design was used, data were collected from the field with a semi-structured interview form and content analysis was performed. The sample of the study consists of 20 foreign students and 20 Turkish students. The students from different countries and the Turkish students were compared in terms of classroom relations, studying habits and communication in the classroom environment. As a result of the interviews, the Turkish students found the foreign students more hard working and it was seen that their studying habits were daily repetitions, going to the library and doing research. It was also determined that they did not have any problems arising from cultural differences in the classroom environment and they had positive relations.  The foreign students found the studying habits of the Turkish students inadequate and memorization-based and assessed their classroom relations positively.
