Abstract:

The word formations in Albanian have their own characteristics and rules as in other languages. Within the framework of these features and rules, word formations in Albanian are divided into six main headings. Among them, derivations take the fist place in terms of productivity. Derivation with prefixes, on the other hand, is the second derivation method that has the most features in terms of both productivity and number, after the suffixes under the title of deriving words in Albanian. Albanian Language has about 80 prefixes but only 10 prefixes are generative. At the same time, many of the prefixes that are active in the language can appear as adverb or preposition. Some of these suffixes also have synths used in dialects. Some prefixes can be added to only one word type, while others can be added to more than one type of word and derive different types of words. In addition to these functions, it is seen that, they can attribute different meanings to the words they derive. Therefore, when examining the prefixes, all variables should be known. This study aims to explain all functions and exceptions of prefixes in Albanian language with sample sentences.
