State of the Problem: The success of the student candidates in musical special ability examination is related partly to; the environment they came from, the high school they graduated from, the order and the reason of preference of the university. Therefore, the format of these examinations have some modifications year by year depending on the goals of the department. Making these modifications more efficient can be possible by identifying the profile of the student candidates.Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this study is identifying the profile of the student candidates applied to the musical special ability examination of Balıkesir University Necatibey Education Faculty Method: In this study, descriptive research model is used for identifying the current situation. Findings and Conclusions: The conclusions based on the findings of this study are; the majority of the student candidates applied to the musical special ability examination are women, nearly the half of the student candidates are living in the cities in Marmara Region, there are nearly an equal number of the candidates graduated from Fine Arts and Sports High Schools and the candidates graduted from Public High Schools, the student candidates mainly preferred the instruments used in music education department for the examination, the majority of the candidates have investigated the department they preferred in the aspects like the state of the city and the physical conditions.
