Abstract:

The social perspective of the professions appears in the definitions of the profession. The definitions of the profession are formed according to the structure of the society. In definitions relating to the social service discipline and the field of work; magazine articles, professional studies on social work, government policy, activity in the field of practice of the profession, participating dictionaries, social media, social service license and pre-license education, environmental factors, cultural factors, parent influence and other factors can be said to be effective. In this study, the social service work area and the social service professional element concepts have been evaluated in terms of participating dictionaries. With the illustrative content analysis technique, eleven participating dictionaries were evaluated on the basis of two main categories determined in relation to the field of social service. The research was focused on the field of social services and on the definitions that exist on the field employees. The findings have shown that the definition of social services has been influenced by many factors. The participating dictionaries, which have an important place among these factors, are focused on the impact on the people to choose the area, the impressions they leave in society and how these perceptions affect the area of social service. The result of the study has shown that the participating dictionaries have many definitions that include positive and negative expressions about the work area of social services and the professional elements. Through the definitions made, the perceptions of the social service work area formed in society and the social service professional elements have become assessable. The study focused on these issues aims to correctly introduce the social service discipline needed in all areas of society and eliminate misconceptions.
