Abstract:

The rapid advancement and development of technology today has affected educational environments. Letters and symbols that have been seen and interpreted from printed media for many years started to be read from digital media and reading from digital media has emerged. Differentiation of reading environments made it necessary to compare reading comprehension skills and to determine which environment is more successful to understand reading. The aim of this study is to compare sixth grade students' reading comprehension skills on screen and paper. The research was carried out by bringing together 397 sixth grade students who were studying in the public schools in Kütahya city center of the Ministry of National Education in 2017-2018 academic year. In this study, data was analyzed by using causal comparison design. As a result of the application, no significant difference was found between the students' levels of reading comprehension on screen and paper.
