In this study, the electricity generation capacity of wastewater treatment plant sludge was investigated by using sediment type microbial fuel cell (SMFC). Graphite electrode was used as anode and cathode material in SMFC and the system was operated for 35 days. The maximum power density of 10.2 mW/m2 was obtained. The SEM images showed that a dense biofilm structure was formed on the anode electrode surface. The obtained results showed that electricity generation capacity of treatment sludge comparable to literature values obtained from SMFC.
