Abstract:

The research was carried out with the aim of studying the levels of anxiety and self-confidence of pregnancy third and fourth class students who participated actively in the birth action. The sample of the study was made as an identificative and was formed by 174 students who were studying in the third and fourth classes in the abortion department of the two universities that participated actively in the birth action. The data is collected by the Personal Information Form, the Situation-Continuous Anxiety Scale (DSKÖ) and the Self-Confidence Scale. Students participating in the study’s DKÖ score is 41,70±6,43, SKÖ score is 46,71±6,39, the total self-confidence scale score is 126,91±24,33, the internal self-confidence size is 65,31±12,59, the external self-confidence size is 61,60±12,20. According to the study, the theoretical knowledge is sufficient to participate in the birth action and there is a significant difference between the DKÖ score average (p<0,05) is found. It has been found that there is a significant difference between the scale of self-confidence scale between the scale average (p<0,05) depending on the status of students choosing a career, the reason of the division preference, the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that they think are sufficient, the support of the problems of theoretical courses and clinical practices. The study found that there was a meaningful correlation in the positive direction between the status anxiety points and the constant anxiety points, the external self-confidence, the internal self-confidence and the total self-confidence points (p<0,05). As the situation anxiety points increase, the constant anxiety points, external self-confidence, internal self-confidence and total self-confidence points increase. Students' worries levels are medium, self-confidence levels are high.
