Abstract:

Purpose: There may be a difference between the attitudes of university students who receive and not receive health education towards the elderly. The research was done to determine the attitudes and influential factors of nursing and body education students in an university.The purpose and method: the universe of research in the cutting and detective type was created by all students studying BESYO at the University's Faculty of Nursing HF and the High School of Body Education and Sports in 2013-2014. There was no sample selection in the study. A total of 1009 students accepted to participate in the study. In the study, the data was collected using the survey form and the attitude scale towards the elderly. In the analysis of the data, variance analysis and t test were used. The study was authorized by the ethical board and the institutions where the study was carried out.The findings: The average age of HF students who participated in the study is 20.42+1.62 years, 82.5 percent are girls, 49.2 percent study in the first class, 14.6 percent stayed in the same home with the elderly, 51.2 percent said they would like to live in the same home with the elderly in the future. BESYO students’ average age is 21.94+2.53 years, 67.4 percent are male students, 54.5 percent said they don’t want to live with the elderly in the future.HF students’ attitude scale score average 150.03+21.88, BESYO students’ attitude scale score average 150.10+23.60. There was no significant difference between the scale of HF and BESYO students’ attitude to the elderly. HF and BESYO students found that the high school, classroom and gender they studied did not affect their attitudes towards the elderly. HF and BESYO students who want to live in the same home with the elderly have a more positive attitude towards the elderly.Resultat: There is no difference between the attitudes of university students who receive and not receive health education towards the elderly.
