Meslek Yüksekokulu Öğrencilerinin Uzaktan Eğitime İlişkin Görüşleri

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin uzaktan eğitime ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim yılında Kayseri Üniversitesi Develi Hüseyin Şahin Meslek Yüksekokulu Bilgisayar Teknolojileri bölümünden beş öğrenci; Büro Yönetimi ve Yönetici Asistanlığı bölümünden sekiz öğrenci; Çocuk Gelişimi bölümünden on sekiz öğrenci ve Lojistik bölümünden beş öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgu bilimi (fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesine göre belirlenmiştir. Gönüllülük esas alınarak 28 kadın ve 8 erkek olmak üzere toplam 36 öğrenci çalışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Veri toplama sürecinde öncelikle Fırat Üniversitesi’nden Etik Kurul onayı (97132852/100/sayılı) alınmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan ve 10 sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler betimsel analiz yöntemine göre analiz edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin görüşleri analiz edildiğinde uzaktan eğitim sistemine ve derslere etkisine ilişkin olarak olumlu ve olumsuz bağlamda sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda; ‘öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim kararına yönelik hisleri’, ‘üniversitenin sunduğu uzaktan eğitim sistemi ile ilgili düşünceler’, ‘üniversitenin yapmış olduğu bilgilendirme ve destek çalışmaları’, ‘canlı ders uygulamalarının öğrenme süreci üzerindeki olumlu etkileri’, ‘canlı ders uygulamalarının öğrenme süreci üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri’, ‘uzaktan eğitim sisteminde yer alan aktiviteler’, ‘derslerin uzaktan eğitme uygunluğu’, ‘sistemden kaynaklanan olumsuzluklar’, ‘teknolojik alt yapı ile ilgili sorunlar’ ve ‘yüz yüze eğitim ile uzaktan eğitim sisteminin eş zamanlı olarak kullanılabilirliği’ şeklinde 10 ana tema ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğrenciler uzaktan eğitim sistemine ilişkin hem olumlu hem de olumsuz görüşler bildirmişlerdir.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to identify the opinions of professional high school students about distance learning. The research work group consists of five students from the Department of Computer Technologies of the Kayseri University's Develi Hussein Shahin Professional High School in the 2019-2020 educational year; eight students from the Department of Office Management and Executive Assistance; eight students from the Department of Child Development and five students from the Department of Logistics. The research has used the phenomenology (fenomenology) design from the quality research patterns. The study group was determined by the maximum diversity sample. In total, 36 students, including 28 women and 8 men, were included on the basis of volunteering. In the process of data collection first received the Ethical Board approval (97132852/100/number) from the University of Fırat. A semi-configured conversation form, created by researchers as a data collection tool, consisted of 10 questions. The data is analyzed according to the visual analysis method. When students’ opinions were analyzed, results were obtained in a positive and negative context regarding the impact on the remote learning system and the courses. The study resulted in “the feelings of students towards the decision to distance learning”, “thoughts about the university’s distance learning system”, “information and support studies by the university”, “positive effects of live course practices on the learning process”, “negative effects of live course practices on the learning process”, “activities involved in the distance learning system”, “compatibility of the lessons for distance learning”, “negatives arising from the system”, “problems related to the technological substructure” and “the simultaneous availability of the face-to-face learning and the distance learning system”. Students have both positive and negative opinions about the remote education system.

Vocational College’s Students’ Perceptions Of Distance Education

Abstract:

The aim of this qualitative study is to determine vocational college’s students’ perceptions of distance education. Study group included 36 students enrolled at the departments of Computer Technologies (five students), Office Management and Executive Assistance (eight students), Child Development (18 students) and Logistics (five students) at Develi Hüseyin Şahin Vocational College of Kayseri University during Spring term of 2019-2020 academic year. Phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study. Study group was selected based on maximum diversity sampling. Volunteer students were included into the study. An interview form including 10 semi-structured questions developed by the researchers was used as the data collection tool. The data were analyzed based on descriptive analysis method. Study results revealed that students’ had both positive and negative opinions to wards distance education. Ten themes were determined based on study results; ‘students’ feelings to wards the decision of distance education’, ‘opinions on distance education system the university offered’, ‘information and support activities by the university’, ‘positive effects of online courses on learning process’, ‘negative effects of online courses on learning process’, ‘activities in distance education system’, ‘suitability of courses for distance education’, ‘system problems’, ‘technological infrastructure problems’ and ‘simultaneous use of face to face education and distance education system’. Several recommendations are suggested based on the study results. The students expressed both positive and negative opinions about the distance education system.
