Abstract:

Reflective thought is basically a concept related to educational sciences and is used as a teaching technique. This technique requires people to evaluate what they do, learn from their assessments, take responsibility and make self-criticism. Writers and poets often use this technique in narrative texts such as daily and memorial. Therefore, reflective thought has a relationship with literary science. This study identifies the reflective thoughts in the daily days. The authors question their past with reflective thoughts, confess their regrets, and are present in new conclusions about their lives. Diaries contain important information that is not included in the authors' biographies in this regard. The purpose of this study is to take advantage of the life experiences of the artists and recognize them with different aspects. There are a limited number of works in Turkish literature that are used in the daily style. The critical guidelines are common to Nurullah Ataç, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Oktay Akbal and Cemil Meriç’s diaries have an important place among them. Writers question their past with sincere emotions in their daily days, make self-criticism and express their regrets. According to the common conclusion from the study, the authors get new and correct information as they question their past and make self-criticism. Reflective thoughts in the diaries also give the opportunity to recognize the writers with different aspects.
