From the beginning of 1920s, there has been changes in the pictorial expression of ‘tapestry’; and, a transition from realistic illustrations to abstract-geometrical patterns has occurred. The first modern examples of this were executed at the Bauhaus School. With the closure of Bauhaus, innovative ideas, which have begun to take shape in tapestry weaving in Europe, were moved to America. While second generation textile artists were brought up in America, Jean Lurcat’s efforts to achieve innovative approaches at the ateliers of Aubusson and Gobelin in France, and Eastern European artists’ interesting combination of material and technique with texture, shape and form, have led the way to the art of three dimensional fiber works. Jagoda Buic is one of the artists who has been producing epochal works in fiber arts like the Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz in Eastern Europe
