Since the by-products of agricultural production are relatively more difficult to measure, the harmful waste they generate has been ignored until recently. Today, it is possible to determine the harmful wastes produced by agricultural production by means of carbon footprint measurements. Recycling of wastes generated as a result of agricultural activities has been an important issue in terms of the sustainability of agricultural production and the environment. In this study, the amounts of greenhouse gases (from fertilizers and enteric fermentation) that occur during animal production activities in Konya province, direct (fuel-based) emission values in plant production, biogas energy potential and biomass energy potentials were calculated. A total of 1,578,108 tons CO2e.year1 of greenhouse gases generated during animal production (dairy cattle, sheep) activities were calculated. The CO2 emission values in crop production (wheat, barley, sunflower, corn, sugar beet) were calculated as 120,564 tons in total under the condition of applying traditional techniques, and as 36,175 tons in total under the condition of applying protective agriculture techniques. When the biogas energy potential is calculated considering the fertilizer collectability rates, it was found that a total of 259,780,000 kWh.(m3)-1.year-1. Biomass energy potentials were found to be 4,508.05 GWh in total.
