Introduction and Purpose: In this study, we aimed at evaluating differences in the body mass index (BMI), epworth sleepiness scale (ESS), accompanying diseases and upper air path morphology, including sleep structure in patients with apnea or hypopnea manifest obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Method and Requirements: Patients with a hypopne rate above 50% were taken to the hypopne group while patients with a hypopne rate above 50% were taken to the hypopne group. The patient’s BMI, ESS and polysomnography (PSG) parameters were recorded. The patient’s anamnesis were scaned with regard to the presence of smoking habit, chronic obstructive lungs disease (KOAH), hypertension (HT), diabetes mellitus (DM), coronary artery disease (KAH) and reviewed with regard to the pathology of the upper respiratory tract. The rate of hypertension was significantly higher in the hypopne group than the apnea group (p=0,021; p<0,05). The rate of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) was found significantly higher in the hypopne group than the apnea group (p=0,016; p<0,05). Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) apne-hypopne index (AHI) in the apne group was found significantly high compared to the hypopne group (p=0,007; p<0,01). Supin AI measurements were found significantly high in the apnea group (p=0,047; p<0,05). In Uvula assessment, the proportion of elonge uvula in the apne group was significantly high (p=0,043; p<0,05). The obstructive sleep apnea syndrome with an apnea weight is more severe than the manifest OSAS with hypopnea. Hypertension is more common in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, in the group of patients with hypopnea pain.
