Both native Arabic speakers and non-native speakers interested in Arabic endeavored to develop methods which can be useful for Arabic learners within the extent of their personal and institutional capacity and knowledge, and they came up with various works for this purpose. “Al-Kitab”, is an Arabic learning set which was developed in accordance with this goal and aims at teaching Arabic to non-native Arabic speakers. In this article, we will discuss “Al-Kitab”’s role in Arabic teaching. We examined “Al-Kitab”, for it attaches considerable importance to the all four basic language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing) and its concern for covering grammar rules functionally. In our work, we firstly discussed “Al-Kitab”’s method of Arabic teaching to non-natives, its way of introducing the four basic language skills and teaching them interrelatedly as well as how it grounds this method on the vocabulary given in the beginning of each chapter. We did not neglect to mention the lacks and weaknesses of the book which we identified during seven years-experience of using the set. We completed the article with some advice and conclusion which we hope to be useful.
