Kültürel yapının önemli unsurlarından olan petroglifler, insanın düşünsel gelişim sürecinde önemli bir ifade biçimi olmuştur. Bilinçli bir imge/gösterge üretim mecrası olarak görülen bu sanatsal faaliyetlerde, Prehistorik Çağ toplulukları arasındaki sanatsal üretim biçimlerindeki farklılık, yaratıcılık ve gelişmişlik düzeylerine ilişkin ayrıntılar saptanabilmektedir. Prehistorik sanatının faaliyetleri açısından önemli bir icra alanı olan Kars ve çevresinde, prehistorik sanatkârların üretimlerini görmek mümkündür. Bu bölgede yer alan ve yeni keşfedilen Üçler Vadisi’ndeki kaya çizimleri, içerdiği farklı temalardan ve üsluplardan dolayı önemli bir Prehistorik Çağ sanatı arşivi oluşturmaktadır. Önemli bir bölümünde atlıların konu alındığı çizimlerden geçmişte burada yaşamış toplulukların sosyal ve kültürel yapıları hakkında veriler edinmenin yanı sıra avcı çizimcilerin gözlem, teknik ve çizim becerileri hakkında da bazı tespitler yapılabilmektedir. Vadide yer alan üç mevkideki kayalıklarda, tanımlanabilen yetmiş beş betimin büyük çoğunluğu kazıma tekniğiyle yapılmıştır. Tasvir edilmiş hayvan figürlerinin çoğu gerçekçi bir anlatımla, detaylar gösterilmeden, genelde profilden, hareketli ve durağan bir şekilde kayaya kazınmışlardır. İnsan figürleri ise benzer bir teknik kullanılarak hem profilden hem de cepheden gösterilerek betimlenmişlerdir. Çizimlerin betim içeriğine bakıldığında bunların genel olarak insanın doğa ve hayvanlar ile ilişkisini anlattığı yorumuna ulaşılabilir. Bu çalışmada, Üçler Vadisi’nde tespit edilmiş petroglifler ikonografik ve biçimsel özellikleri bakımından incelenmiştir. Ayrıca çalışmada, buradaki petroglifler ile Kars ili sınırları içinde ve çevresinde bulunan diğer örnekler arasındaki benzerlikler, farklılıklar belirtilmiştir.
Being one of the important elements of the cultural structure, petroglyphs have become an important form of expression in the intellectual development process of human beings. As a conscious image/sign formation course, details in the difference in artistic production forms, creativity and level of development among prehistoric age communities can be determined in these artistic activities. It is possible to see the works of prehistoric artists in Kars and its surroundings, which is an important field of performance in terms of prehistoric art activities. The rock drawings in Üçler Valley, located in this region and newly discovered, constitute an important archive of prehistoric art since they are of different themes and styles. In addition to obtaining information about the social and cultural structures of the communities that lived here in the past from the drawings, in which a significant part of the horsemen is the subject, some assumptions can be made about the observation and technical drawing skills of the hunter artists.On the rocks at three locations in the valley, almost seventy-five identifiable depictions were made with some carving techniques. Most of the depicted animal figures were engraved on the rock in a realistic way, but without showing details, generally from the profile, in a moving and stable manner. Considering the depiction content of the drawings, the assumption that they generally describe the relationship of humans with nature and animals can be reached.In this study, petroglyphs detected in Üçler Valley were examined in terms of iconographic and formal features. In addition, in the study, the similarities and differences between the petroglyphs here and other samples found in and around Kars province were stated.
