Abstract:

Hundreds of thousands of people who fled from the Armenian massacres after the occupation of the eastern provinces during World War I have led to a substantial change in the demographic structure of Anadolu. The number of refugees from the Middle East remains low. The demographic movements arising from Eastern migrants, the most important domestic migrants that Turkey encounters, will lead to further deterioration of the current economic situation, increases in food fiat. With the possibilities of the Turkish governments, the return of the vast majority of immigrants was provided after the occupation in the eastern provinces began, while the immigrants left in Çukurova, especially after the French occupation in 1919, had settlement and living problems. As a result of the place change of the Turkish-Greek peoples in Adana and the surrounding area, the Eastern migrants who suffered settlement problems experienced economic trouble until they passed the adaptation process and moved to the producer position. For immigrants, settling in Kadirli, the least affected by occupation, finding their relatives and nurses in their prosperous lands, after the persecution they suffered, was a source of avuntu. This study aims to explore the problems of immigrants from the occupied east and southern territories. Related to the last years of the Ottoman State and the first years of the governments of the Republic of Turkey, the immigration and cities policy and settlement issues will be discussed and studied in the light of the existing written sources, the talks held on the site and the first-hand sources in the Prime Minister's Republic Archive, the talks held on the site with witnesses will be revealed.
