Bu araştırmada, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı ilk, orta ve lise dereceli okullarda görev yapan İngilizce öğretmenlerinin ve okul yöneticilerinin İngilizce öğretimine yönelik görüşleri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Tarama modelindeki araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında Van İl Merkezinde görev yapan 15 öğretmen ve okul yöneticisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacı tarafından uzman görüşü alınarak geliştirilen görüşme formu kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Görüşme tekniği kullanılarak elde edilen verilerinin çözümlenmesinde betimsel analiz tekniğinden içerik analiz tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilen araştırmacı tarafından transkript edilerek çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmada İngilizce öğretmenleri, yabancı dil öğretiminde kullanılan materyal ve kaynakların yetersiz olduğuna ve başka kaynaklar ile öğretimin desteklenmesi gerektiğine, İngilizce öğretim sürecinde ayrılan sürenin ve ders saatlerinin yetersiz olduğuna, daha bu konuda daha fazla sürenin ayrılması gerekildiğine, İngilizce öğretiminin gerekliliği konusunda diğer paydaşların çok fazla sürece müdahil olmadıklarına, yabancı dil öğretimine yönelik yeniden düzenlemelerin yapılması gerektiğine, yabancı dil öğretiminde süreç içerisindeki tüm öğelerin daha donanımlı olması gerektiğine, daha etkili ve kalıcı bir öğrenme için uygun yöntem tekniklerin belirlenmesi gerekildiğine, İngilizce öğretim sürecinde fazlasıyla sorunun olduğuna ve bu sorunların sağlıklı bir öğretim sürecine engel olduğuna, ve tüm bunların İngilizce öğretimine karşı olumsuz tutum oluşmasına neden olduğuna dikkat çekmişlerdir.
In this study, the ideas of English teachers and school administrators working in primary, secondary and high school schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education has been investigated about English teaching in Turkey. The study group of this survey model reseach consists of 15 teachers and school administators working in Van city center in 2018-2019 academic year. The data of the study has been obtained by using the interview form developed by the researcher with the expert opinion. In the analysis of the data obtained by using interview technique; descriptive analysis technique and content analysis technique have been used. The obtained data has been analyzed via transcript technique by the researcher. In the study those results have been found; English teachers believe that the materials and resources used in foreign language teaching are insufficient and that other sources should be supported, the time and hours allocated in the English teaching process are insufficient, more time should be devoted to this issue, and other stakeholders should be involved in the process too much, but they are not, and re-arrangements should be made for foreign language teaching, all elements in the foreign language teaching should be more equipped, appropriate method techniques should be determined for a more effective and permanent learning, there are many problems in the English teaching process and that these problems prevent a healthy teaching process and all these cause negative attitudes towards teaching English.
