Abstract The article analyzes the discousers about children and childhood published in pedagogical journal adressed at teacher’s education in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century in Portugal and Santa Catarina / Brazil, the Revista Escolar - circulation journal in Portugal and the Revista de Educação - circulation in the State of Santa Catarina / Brazil. The studies historically built on children and their relationship with teacher education provide some evidence to analyze how the appropriations of pedagogical concepts, practices and knowledge took place, especially those adressed at guiding pedagogical practice through pedagogical journal. As a result, it is expected to contribute to understand the importance of pedagogical journal in the dissemination of pedagogical knowledge produced for the education of teachers.
