Osmanlı Devletinde yabancı postaların varlığının 15. Yüzyılda Venedik’e verilen imtiyazlar neticesinde başladığı söylenebilir. Osmanlı Devleti’nin verdiği imtiyazlar neticesinde posta açma hakkını elde Avrupalı devletler, ülkenin önemli ticaret merkezlerinde posta büroları açmışlardır. Yabancı postalar arasında en dikkat çekici posta ise Avusturyalılara aitti. Çeşitli anlaşmalarla posta büroları açan Avusturya, açtığı 80’den fazla posta bürosuyla önemli bir varlık alanı oluşturmuştur. Osmanlı Devleti, mühim bir sorun olan yabancı postalarla ve özellikle de bunlar arasında sayıca ve faaliyet açısından oldukça geniş bir donanıma sahip olan Avusturya postalarıyla mücadele etmek durumunda kalmıştır. Çalışmada, Osmanlı topraklarında Avusturya postalarının kuruluşu ve bu postalarla yapılan mücadele üzerinde durulmuştur.
It can be said that the existence of foreign posts in the Ottoman Empire started as a result of the privileges given to Venice in the 15th century. As a result of the privileges given by the Ottoman state, the European states, which obtained the right to open mail, opened post offices in the country's important trade centers. Among the foreign mails, the most remarkable mail belonged to the Austrians. Austria, which opened post offices with various agreements, has created an important area of existence with more than 80 post offices it has opened. It had to struggle with foreign posts, which was an important problem in the Ottoman Empire, and especially with Austrian posts, which had a wide range of equipment in terms of numbers and activities. In the study, the establishment of the Austrian posts in the Ottoman lands and the struggle with these posts are emphasized.
