Abstract:

Abstract Prehospital emergency care is one of the most important field of the health systems. In 1994, Turkey considered the advice of single European emergency call number current name European Union; "112" and began to use it. The nomenclature which was required the telecomunication technology level at that time, is used as a general designation of a wide range of emergency medical services today. That number of which should be composed at least three non-consecutive digit number is "112". Telephone number allocated to Turkey in the pre-hospital emergency medical services began in 1985 as corporate demand for emergency " 077 ", respectively. The system which was introduced as "077 - Hızır Emergency Service" was an important example of how to adapt the country's socio- cultural structure. Today, a large society in Turkey continues to call ambulance as "Hızır ambulance" namely. "077 - Hızır Emergency Service" is a good representative that how permanent is the institution, when it bases on a deep philosophy and values ​​from its past. After nearly nine years, in 1994, "077 - Hızır Emergency Service" handed over its position to "112". Prehospital emergency medical services, continues to developing by using all the facilities of modern technology.
