Yatırımlar ile tasarruflar arasındaki ilişki her dönemde iktisatçıların ilgisini çeken konular arasında yer almaktadır. Nitekim yatırım ve tasarruf üzerine yapılan araştırmalardan biri de Feldstein ve Horioka (1980) tarafından yapılmıştır. Söz konusu araştırma, ekonomide sermaye hareketliliğinin olduğu durumda yurtiçi yatırımlar ile yurtiçi tasarruflar arasında yakın ilişkinin olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Genel iktisat teorisine zıt olan bu durum Feldstein-Horioka Paradoksu (Bulmacası-Hipotezi) olarak ifade edilmektedir. Feldstein-Horioka Paradoksu (FHP) uluslararası makroekonominin en önemli paradoksları arasında yer almıştır. FHP’nin Türkiye’de geçerli olup olmadığını ortaya koyabilmek için 1980-2021 dönemine ait yıllık veriler kullanılarak ele alınan değişkenler arasındaki ilişki ARDL Sınır Testi ve Toda-Yamamoto Granger Nedensellik Analizi ile test edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, FHP ele alınan dönemde Türkiye için geçerli olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bu sonuç, Türkiye’de yatırımların daha çok yurtdışı tasarruflar ile finanse edildiğini ortaya koymaktadır.
The relationship between investments and savings is among the topics that attract the economists at all times. In fact, one of the research on investment and savings was done by Feldstein and Horioka (1980). The research suggests that there is a close relationship between domestic investments and domestic savings in the event of capital mobility in the economy. This situation, which is contrary to the general economic theory, is expressed as the Feldstein-Horioka Paradox. The Feldstein-Horioka Paradox (FHP) is one of the most important paradoxes in the international macroeconomy. The relationship between the variables discussed using annual data from the period 1980-2021 to determine whether the FHP is valid in Turkey has been tested with the ARDL Border Test and the Toda-Yamamoto Granger Causal Analysis. According to the results of the analysis, the FHP was not valid for Turkey during the period being discussed. This result shows that investments in Turkey are more financed by foreign savings.
