Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to study graduate theses related to mathematical modeling. The study used the thematic content analysis model from the quality research methods. The study’s work group consists of 48 theses prepared on mathematical modeling between 2000 and 2017. The research has found that the theses related to mathematical modeling are more done in the fields of mathematical teaching and primary mathematical teaching, and that mathematical modeling has begun to be of interest in our country after 2005. Studies were mostly done on high school students and teacher candidates and qualified and mixed methods were mostly preferred. The studies have determined the use of state study as a model and experimental patterns, the use of content analysis and visual analysis in data analysis. The data is mostly seen to be collected through conversations, video/audio recordings and tests. The subjects studied in the theses have been determined to be more in the form of identification of views on problem-solving and modeling.
