Görme Engelli Çocukların Fiziksel Aktivite ve Obezite Düzeyleri

Abstract:

Amaç: Bu araştırma, görme engelli öğrencilerin fiziksel aktivite ve obezite düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı bir çalışmadır. Bu araştırmanın evrenini 2015-2016 yılında Ankara‘da bulunan görme engelliler ilk ve ortaokullarında bulunan öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Evrenin tamamı olan 151 kişiye ulaşılması hedeflenmiş ancak devamsızlık, sağlık problemleri, ailelerin izin vermemesi, öğrencilerin gönüllü olmaması gibi sebeplerden dolayı 134 kişiye anket ve tarama formu doldurulmuştur. Verilerin analizinde sayı, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Ki-kare testi ve Sperman korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Görme engelli öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 10.72±2.53 ve obezite prevalansı %23.9 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Erkek çocuklarda obezite oranı %25, kız çocuklarda ise %22.2 olarak bulunmuştur. Annesi ev hanımı olanlarda, ailesinin gelir durumu düşük olanlarda, fastfood tüketenlerde obezitenin daha fazla görüldüğü belirlenmiştir. Çocukların yaşı ile obezite arasında pozitif yönde bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Spor kulübüne gidenlerde obezite oranı %15 iken, gitmeyenlerde %27.7 olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Görme engelli çocuklarda obezite prevalansı sağlıklı çocuklara göre yüksek bulunmuştur. Fiziksel aktiviteye zaman ayıran çocuklarda obezite oranı daha düşüktür. Görme engelli çocuklara, ailelerine ve öğretmenlerine obezite ve fiziksel aktivitenin önemi hakkında bilgiler verilmeli ve obezite oranlarını azaltmak için önlemler alınmalıdır.

Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the levels of physical activity and obesity of students with visual disabilities. Method and method: It is a defining work. The universe of this research is formed by students with visual disabilities found in Ankara in 2015-2016 in primary and secondary schools. The aim was to reach 151 people throughout the universe, but 134 people were filled with the survey and screening form for reasons such as impotence, health problems, family failure, student failure to be volunteer. In the analysis of the data; number, percentage, average, standard deviation, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Ki-quare test and Sperm correlation analysis were used. Results: The average age of students with visual disabilities was 10.72±2.53 and the prevalence of obesity was 23.9%. The rate of obesity in boys was 25%, and in girls 22.2%. In those who have their mother’s households, their family’s income is low, fast food consumers have seen more obesity. There is a positive relationship between age and obesity. In those who went to a sports club, the obesity rate was 15%, while in those who didn’t go was 27.7%. The outcome: Obesity prevalence in children with visual disabilities was higher than in healthy children. Children who spend time on physical activity have a lower rate of obesity. Children with visual disabilities, their families and teachers should be informed about the importance of obesity and physical activity and measures should be taken to reduce obesity rates.

Aim: This study was conducted to determine the physical activity and obesity status of visually impaired students. Material and Methods: The universe of this descriptive study was consisted of the visually impaired primary and secondary school students who received education in 2015-2016 academic calendar in Ankara. The entire universe, 151 people in total, were targeted to reach, but, due to some reasons such as absenteeism, ealth problems, failure to get family’spermission, not being volunteer for the study; only 134 persons were provided to fill out questionnaire and screening form. Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Chi-square test and Spearman correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. Results: The average age of the visually impaired students was determined as 10.72 ± 2.53, and the prevalence of obesity as 23.9%. The obesity rate was 25% in boys and 22.2% in girls. It was determined that obesity was more common among the students whose mothers were housewives, whose families had low income and consumed fast food. A positive correlation was determined between the ages of the children and obesity. While the obesity rate was 15% for those who went to a sports club, it was 27.7% for those who did not. Conclusıon: The prevalence of obesity in children with disabilities was higher than healthy children. The obesity rate was lower in children who spend time on physical activity. Visually impaired children, their families and teachers should be informed about the importance of obesity and physical activity and measures should be taken to reduce obesity rates.
