Abstract:

This study aimed to examine the processes of science teacher candidates demonstrating their engineering design skills. The participants of the study consist of 28 senior science teacher candidates The case study method was used in the study. To collect data, activities involving daily life problems were prepared by the researcher to enable students to use their engineering design skills. The class was divided into groups of four and a total of seven activities were implemented, one activity for each group. The implementation lasted four weeks. To evaluate the activities, an engineering design skills evaluation rubric was prepared. Each step of the design was scored separately and the level of display of engineering design skills was determined. As a result of the study, it was seen that science teacher candidates' level of display of engineering design skills was low, and they were especially insufficient in preparing decision matrices to choose the solution.
