Öz: Teknolojide yaşanan dönüşüm ve gelişmeler, eğitim-öğretim süreçlerini de etkilemektedir. Özellikle öğrencilerin dersle ilgili süreçlere etkin bir biçimde katılmasına ve derse yönelik olumlu duygular geliştirmesine katkısı olan teknolojik gelişmelerin öğrenme süreçlerine uygun hale getirilerek kullanıldığı görülmektedir. İnternet teknolojilerindeki gelişmelere paralel olarak ortaya çıkan sosyal medya ortamlarının bu türden gelişmelerden biri olduğu söylenebilir. Bireylere duygu ve deneyimlerini paylaşma, iletişim kurma, bilgi edinme gibi olanaklar sunan sosyal medya ortamlarının genç bireyler tarafından yoğun bir biçimde kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Sosyal medyanın öneminin ve popülerliğinin giderek artması bu ortamların ders kapsamında kullanımı konusunu gündeme getirmiştir. Öğrencilerin sosyal medya ortamlarını kullanarak hem eğlenmesi hem öğrenmesi hem de bir takım becerileri kazanması için alanyazında pek çok çalışma yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada da genelde ezberlenmesi gereken zor bir ders olarak algılanan ve genelde geçmişle ilgili soyut konulardan oluşan tarih derslerinin sosyal medya ortamları aracılığıyla öğretimi konusunda mevcut durumu tarih öğretmenlerinin gözünden değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda araştırma, nitel araştırma yaklaşımı ve nitel araştırma yaklaşımının doğasına uyumlu biçimde olgubilim (fenomenoloji) desenine uygun olarak yürütülmüştür. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla 32 tarih öğretmeni ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak tarih öğretmenleri tarafından sosyal medya ortamlarının sunduğu pek çok avantajla birlikte bazı sınırlılıkları da olduğu bununla birlikte, sosyal medya ortamlarının tarih öğretim faaliyetlerinde kullanımı için önemli bir potansiyel taşıdığı ifade edilmiştir. Katılımcıların ifadelerinden hem sosyal medya okur-yazarlığı hem de sosyal medya ortamlarının eğitim pedagojisine uygun kullanımı için eğitim alınması gerekliliği ön plana çıkmıştır. The transformation and developments in technology also influence the educational processes. In particular, technological developments that have contributed to the student’s effective participation in the course-related processes and the development of positive feelings towards the course are used by adapting them to learning processes. It can be said that social media environments that appear parallel to the developments in the Internet technologies are one of these developments. Social media environments that offer opportunities for individuals to share their feelings and experiences, communicate, acquire information, are widely used by young individuals. The increasing importance and popularity of social media has led to the subject of the use of these environments within the course. Many studies have been conducted in the field to help students enjoy both learning and acquiring a set of skills using social media environments. This study also aims to evaluate the current situation in the teaching of history courses, which are often perceived as a difficult lesson to be remembered and usually consisting of abstract subjects related to the past through social media media, from the eyes of history teachers. In this context, research is carried out in accordance with the nature of the qualitative research approach and qualitative research approach in accordance with the phenomenological pattern. Through the semi-configured interview form, 32 history teachers were interviewed. The data obtained is analyzed by content analysis. As a result, the teachers of history have some limitations along with the many advantages that social media environments offer, but the social media environments have a significant potential for their use in history teaching activities. The need for training for the use of both social media read-writing and social media environments in accordance with the educational pedagogy has emerged from the expression of the participants. Abstract: The developments and changes experienced in technology affect the teaching-learning process. Especially it is viewed that the technological developments which make contributions to students to engage actively in the process related to the course and to develop positive attitudes towards the course have been used in accordance with the teaching-learning process. It can be stated that social media environment which emerged in parallel with the Internet technologies is one of those developments. In addition, it is regarded that social media environments which offer individuals some opportunities such as sharing their feelings and experiences, establishing communication, and getting information have been extensively used by young individuals. The rapid increase of popularity and importance of social media has brought into the question of using these environments within the course content. Many studies have been carried out in the literature with the intention of having students learn, have fun and gain some skills by using social media platforms. This study aimed at teaching history courses which are perceived as a difficult lesson to be memorized and usually include abstract topics related to the past via social media platforms and evaluating the present state through the eyes of the history teachers. Within this context, the research was carried out with qualitative research approach and phenomenology design, which is in compliance with the nature of qualitative research approach. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 32 history teachers. The data obtained were analysed via content analysis. As a result, history teachers stated that social media environments offered many advantages but also they had some limitations. In addition, they stated that social media environments had an important potential to be used during the activities of teaching of history. The participant statements’ revealed that training was required both for the social media literacy and for the use of social media platforms in accordance with the education pedagogy.
