Abstract:

The family is a basic unit of persons who, through blood devotion, marriage and other legal means, have relatively related relationships and mostly live in the same home; where the sexual, psychological, social and economic needs of persons are met, where their social adaptation and participation are provided and organized. This study also examined the relationship of social support perceived from the family with anxiety and self-respect. According to the research findings, women, family-wide communication problems and single individuals have higher levels of anxiety. Married individuals have both the positive self schemes and the social support levels perceived by the family higher than single individuals. As the level of social support perceived by the family rises and the positive self scheme increases, the anxiety violence that individuals experience decreases. As the social support perceived by the family increases, the positive self-perceptions of individuals are also increasing. The need for social support in every period of life has a separate meaning within the family. Therefore, it is possible to take advantage of the consulting units and the means of public communication in the institutions to ensure that individuals in the family are more conscious about providing social support to each other is a contemporary obligation.
