Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to identify the distribution of the doctoral theses completed in the educational programs and the field of teaching in Turkey and the most common deficiencies in the theses. In the study, the visual method was adopted and the study group formed 324 doctoral theses. The theses were determined using the criteria to be completed between 2006-2017 and open to access from the YÖK National Thesis Center. The data collection technique is a document review, and the data collection tool is a 31 item checklist. In the analysis of data, content analysis is used. The doctoral theses are often focused on learning and teaching subjects. Subjects such as teaching styles and approaches, critical thinking, top cognitive skills, collaborative learning, structuring are often selected. A significant part of the data was collected at higher education level and in teaching professions. The most work on the branch base was given in the field of foreign language. The most popular method of research is the scan of the mixed research and the most popular research design. As a data collection tool, only the scale/anketin is used to make the largest group of research. With the detailed examination of the theses, the most missing section method was. The method followed the importance, the situation of the problem and the summary.
